BMW Innovation Lab steps up a gear for 2018

by Startacus Admin

BMW Group UK has announced the launch of the BMW Innovation Lab 2018. The new programme builds upon the success of the inaugural Lab in 2016, which saw four out of five incubated startups succeed in building ongoing relationships with the company’s UK commercial operations.
The ten-week programme, based at headquarters of BMW Group UK, will enable startups to trial products at scale, receive expert mentoring from senior members of the BMW Group UK management team and access funding from L Marks.
Now heading into its second year, the BMW Innovation Lab has grown to encompass the UK based operations for BMW Financial Services, BMW UK and MINI UK.
Successful startups will have access to first-class mentorship, accessing insights from leading subject matter experts in the automotive and automotive finance sectors.
The ten-week programme will be run in collaboration with corporate innovation specialist L Marks. Successful candidates will be co-located at the headquarters of BMW Group UK, and will be able to access data, gather insights and aim to test their products/services in live customer environments. Investment decisions will be finalised at the end of the programme.
The BMW Innovation Lab 2018 will also see the company add a new ‘intrapreneur programme’ to inspire, shape and realise innovative ideas from the 1,300-strong workforce operating across the BMW Group’s three commercial divisions in the UK.
