BMW Group Financial Services Japan launches Innovation Lab 2018 for Entrepreneurs

High quality startups from all over the world are invited to participate in the Second BMW Innovation Lab, with the 10-week programme this time based from the BMW Group Financial Services Japan offices, in Tokyo.
Based for the first time in Japan, ‘BMW Innovation Lab 2018’ will aim to explore how startup technology can help in offering an enhanced experience to its customers and dealers.
Once again run in collaboration with corporate innovation specialists and early-stage investors, L Marks, the programme is designed for tech startups with disruptive business models or new technologies that could benefit BMW dealers and customers.
So what are BMW Innovation Lab looking for?
BMW Innovation Lab are looking for businesses which deliver solutions to key innovation challenges in following four categories:
Provide delight through the journey of financing: Exploring solutions to analyze feedback from dealers and customers; Exploring tools which can highlight trends from analysis of existing data.
Optimize internal processes for a seamless customer experience: Exploring tools to automate certain internal operations to deliver better speed, accuracy and quality in less time.
Improve effective handling of future risks: Exploring solutions focused on effective evaluation of risks to strengthen the foundation of trust that BMW Group Financial Services Japan has earned so far.
Wildcard: Exploring any other relevant solutions not encompassed by the other three categories to help BMW Group Financial Services Japan provide financial services more creatively and innovatively.
What is on offer to the selected startups?
Successful startups will have access to first-class mentorship, accessing insights from leading subject matter experts in the automotive and auto finance sectors.
The teams will be co-located at the headquarters of BMW in Tokyo gather insights and aim to test their products/services in live customer environments.
Potential investment decisions will also be finalised at the end of the 10-week programme.
Timescales
- Application close on 1st April 2018
- A Pitch day, 17th-18th May 2018
- Programme starts, 18th June 2018
- End of programme Demo day, 7th Sept 2018
