Belfast startup and tech ecosystem meetup to offer food for thought

by Startacus Admin
A give-thanks lunch for key startup champions and ecosystem builders in the Belfast startup and tech sector looks set to bring key Belfast startup and tech ecosystem champions together.
Organised by startup platform Startacus and Belfast based private accelerator Raise Ventures, the sit-down lunch for the key startup champions and community builders in the region will take place on the 17th October 2019 at The Academy Restaurant, Ulster Business School's award-winning training restaurant.
Jenny Irvine, Raise Ventures co-founder and event co-organiser explained:
“The support for startups and small businesses in Belfast is fantastic but can be overwhelming as a founder. This event is giving some thanks to those champions that make it happen. It is also a chance for the startup champions to understand better the various programmes on offer in Belfast. And then we can all give the best advice and support to founders and signpost each startup to best programme for their idea.”
Sponsored by Esri Ireland, specialists in the application of geographic information systems and Glandore, a leading provider of flexible workspace in Ireland and Northern Ireland, the lunch time event will offer the selected startup champions to come dine together, network, discuss key opportunities and challenges, and listen to two engaging, relevant startup ecosystem themed speakers, all whilst enjoying a sit down lunch and dessert.
By inviting Gene Murphy and Colin Keogh, two leading lights of the dublin startup ecosystem to speak at the lunchtime event, Startacus and Raise Ventures are also keen to see what opportunities exist to further link and collaborate the ecosystem with Dublin and what we can learn from how the Dublin startup and tech ecosystem has developed.
Event co-sponsor Esri Ireland are part of the Esri Startup Program, a unique program that enables the most promising emerging businesses to incorporate location intelligence into their solutions. Hundreds of startups from around the globe including Northern Ireland are enrolled. These up-and-coming businesses have integrated Esri’s spatial capabilities within their product offerings across a broad spectrum of industries. Rachel Steenson, Market Engagement Manager for Esri Ireland in NI said:
“We’re proud to support these companies who are driving innovation across a wide array of themes including, mobile, Internet of Things (IoT), real-time analytics, augmented reality and more – It’s so important for Esri Ireland to help champion and support all those within the start-up and tech ecosystem that support the current and next generation of entrepreneurs.”
Event co-sponsor Glandore have grown to become a leading provider of flexible workspace in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Nial Borthistle, BD Manager for Glandore also explained their involvement:
Since 2001 Glandore has a track record in supporting companies with their growth. We see for ourselves the great work that the startup and tech ecosystem does in Belfast and having an opportunity to bring those champions together to share best practice is valuable. Glandore is also keen to establish how we can further support that ecosystem and we are delighted to be involved in this lunch time initiative."
Any startup ecosystem champion from Belfast who has not yet been invited to the event can reach out to Alastair Cameron directly (alastair@startacus.net) to attend this (if spaces remain) or any further ecosystem meetup.
