Beginners’ Top tips on using LinkedIn for business

by Startacus Admin
LinkedIn is commonly thought of as a social network for professionals. But it is also a valuable tool to use linkedin for business...
If you want to network and connect with work professionals or want to try and network to find a new job, LinkedIn is a good place to start. With an already massive audience reach in the US, the European market is still growing and it is estimated that around 4 million people in the UK have registered with the site.
While Facebook, Twitter and Google+ (?) are given a lot of credit for helping to create a community of fans for your business, LinkedIn can also be a valuable tool for Startups to utilise. With this in mind, here are some of our Beginners’ Top Tips on using LinkedIn for business...
Create a Group Page
So, in a way similar to Facebook allowing you to create a community, company or fan page - the only difference here is that your starter audience is not necessarily your friends and family - they could be people that will actually care about your topic or subject matter. For example, if you wanted to set up a new recruitment agency that specialised in graduate recruitment, you can be easily found and searched for, if you signpost your group in a relevant way. If you have a company website, or write content or a blog, like Facebook, you can share your content here too.
Join Groups
LinkedIn allows you to join 50 groups. So, if you were for example setting up a cake making company - you can bet that there are a few groups that are relevant to ‘cakes’, cake making, distribution of confectioneries, and the promotion of small businesses. Some might even be focused around the geographical area where you live. You might find that relevant information, articles and tips are regularly posted by other group members and by building a relevant network of groups you are kept in the know about industry updates and news.
