Attracting New Employees To Your Startup: Tips For Intrepid Entrepreneurs

by Startacus Admin
Looking for ways to attract new employees to your startup? Here are some tips to help entrepreneurs entice talented candidates.
Working for a startup can be an exciting opportunity. The chance to help an upcoming business in its early days has become a fantasy career role for some. In 2020, 726,000 new businesses were created in the UK. Most of these businesses want to attract new employees to help them as they look to grow and expand the company.
Working with a start-up can be viewed as a risk for some candidates. Entrepreneurs looking to attract new employees need to find strategies to help attract people to the team. If you are looking for ways to attract new employees to your start-up, here are some tips to help entrepreneurs entice talented candidates.
Offer Desirable Benefits Package
Times have changed in business, and company benefits are most noticeable. Any benefits offered would have been a unique bonus to any job offer a few years ago. However, there is an expectation for companies to provide benefits.
One of the primary benefits is offering flexibility around working. It could be offering schemes such as flexitime or the option to work from home. Both of these have become increasingly desirable qualities by employees. It will be warmly welcomed as it will allow you, talented employees, to work around their schedules. Other benefit options include healthcare plans, pension schemes, and saving opportunities.
Highlight Learning Opportunities
When applying for a role, candidates want to know if there are any opportunities to thrive in the company. Will they have a chance to progress? Are there higher roles that they could work their way up towards moving into? Is training offered to learn and develop new skills? These could help a talented candidate decide whether to apply for the role.
An excellent way to attract new people is to show that you offer training to employees. One-to-one training might be more personal; it is difficult for an entrepreneur to focus most of their time on employees in the early days of their start-up. Utilising a learning experience platform, like imc, is an excellent way to support new employees as they find their feet in the company. Using a learning suite will also allow the chance to see areas people struggle with. These can be updated and improved in time to help other new employees.
Show That Growth Is Possible
Alongside highlighting the opportunities to learn new skills, highlight that employees can grow in the company. Show employees that their hard work, commitment, skills and expertise will be recognised and rewarded accordingly. It could be through opportunities to move into higher roles. Employees driven by success want to work for companies that can help them advance in their careers.
When advertising roles within the company, emphasise how employees can move up the career ladder by joining the business. As the start-up begins to grow, it can attract new employees. It shows them that the business is expanding and can be seen as an excellent chance for them to be part of its growth.
