Are you a self starter looking to clear some student debts?

Looking to clear some student debts? This could be a winner...
Those folk over at IdeasTap do love a good competition! We had previously highlighted the IdeasTap managed Sky Arts Ignition: Futures Fund which was offering five young artists £30k each to fund their work for a full year, so we thought it was only fair to let you all know about their newest comp: the Uni Fee Fund.Basically the winner of the competition gets £9,000 wiped off their Student Loans Company balance. (yep we thought that would get you interested!)
For a chance to win, the IdeasTap guys are simply looking for you to tell them in 100 words or less what you could offer to IdeasTap’s network in exchange for the money. It could be an idea or a service, but IdeasTap are looking for imaginative, original and feasible ideas - that’s my solar powered death star idea out the window then...
They will then invite a shortlist of their favourite 50 ideas to submit further information, from which they will select one lucky winner, who will receive a £9,000 lump sum, paid directly to the Student Loans Company – and four runners-up, who will each receive a £500 lump sum, also paid directly to the Student Loans Company. The winner will then be required to deliver their idea with appropriate support from IdeasTap.
To be eligible to enter, you must be UK-based and have:
• embarked on a Bachelor of Arts or BMus degree in 2006 or later.
• be £9,000 or more in debt (they’’ll ask to see a Student Loans statement, if shortlisted).
• studied in the UK and taken out a loan with the Student Loans Company.
• a first degree – they won’t pay towards a Masters or Postgraduate qualification.
• a profile picture on your IdeasTap profile.
• the intellectual property for any ideas submitted – IdeasTap must be able to use any of the ideas from submissions, shortlisted entrants, runners-up and the winner
The brief closes on Friday 29 March at 5pm and is open to IdeasTap members aged 18 and over.
Seeing as Startacus is all about doing ‘that thing you love’ perhaps it might be a good idea to highlight what type of positive impact the £9k less debt would allow you to do or achieve. Simply saying why you deserve it may not be good enough, but highlighting what good you can do and offer in return might get you in the running.
Check out the Uni Fee Fund link here for all the technicals - we hope to hear more about this competition and its winner over the coming months. Self starters at the ready! Get thinking...
