Afterbook - honour and memorialise your loved ones

by Startacus Admin

Afterbook - the startup that's on a mission to help us all "create a beautiful home for the memoirs of the ones we love"...

Founded by a father and daughter looking for a way to better remember their lost wife and mother, Afterbook is a way of capturing a life story for posterity.
A way for those left behind after a loved one dies to manage their grief, cope with the incessant normality of life continuing around them, and find some peace of mind. It is a way to share that person with the world to celebrate their life, and find and give support to others doing the same.
Digitally at afterbook.com, users can create a biography of their loved ones’ lives, whether that person has passed on or has just begun their life, or journal their own life, eventually leaving behind a legacy for their own loved ones to remember them, and to add their own memories to. Family, friends, and the general public can leave notes of condolence in the memory box or simply light a candle as a show of support.
The Northern Irish startup, based in Co. Down, received early stage backing from TechstartNI.
From there, they were accepted into the then Entrepreneurial Sparks ‘Grow’ programme, which gave them the support and expertisxe needed to... well, grow the business, with office space and access to workshops and bootcamps. Last but certainly not least, they were selected to take part in the inaugral Ignite Propel programme in NI - an accelerator housed at the fab Ormeau Baths in Belfast.
Though not a part of the upSTART ‘18 startup pitch competition at this year’s Digital DNA, we were happy to see, co-founder Jessica’s impassioned spur of the moment pitch (and an excellent pitch at that) at the competition itself, and it makes us think this much-needed platform will have the legs to do very well.
We look forward to folllowing the Afterbook journey going forward...
