Advertising on Twitter - it's here!

by Startacus Admin
Within the last week, Twitter has announced that small and medium businesses and startups in the UK, Ireland and Canada can now use its platform for advertising.
Prior to this point of course, advertising on Twitter was something that was firmly aimed at the big boys - the corporates. Now however, small and medium businesses can either use Promoted Accounts to help build a community of followers who are advocates for their business or use Promoted Tweets to engage with and directly target potential new followers and users.
Whether or not it could prove to be beneficial for your business, only time will tell. However, thanks to Twitter’s new partnership with O2 Business, this could be the best time to try it out. The 2 companies are working together to help small businesses in the UK promote themselves and also improve how they engage with both existing and prospective customers.
To mark the partnership, O2 has also launched a Social Insights tool which will help those small businesses already using Twitter with practical advice on how they can improve their social media activities and outreach. There are 3 main components of the tool including:
- Social League - in essence this is a leader board where businesses can track their performance against other businesses of the same size, in the same area or market sector
- Dashboard - this function enables small businesses to assess their social media activity and identify its impact and reach etc.
- Social Toolkit - content on social media best practice is curated from a whole host of news sites and social media channels and is delivered directly to a member’s account. Tips and advice galore!
Like the sound of that? Well, if you sign up before 29th November, you can get £50 credit to spend on Twitter’s new advertising platform. Not only that, but you’ll also be in with the chance of winning £5k worth of advertising on Twitter. Just imagine what that could do for you and your startup! Full details on all the T’s and C’s can be found via the O2 Social Insights site.
