Adverdose Aims To Make Brand Video Advertising Fun

by Startacus Admin
Two Italian Entrepreneurs, who moved to the UK as part of the Sirius programme, aim to link the consumer to the brand with Adverdose their online platform and app for running brand competitions.
Mario Dughi, Co Founder of Adverdose, recently registered on Startacus and showcased their startup in our Collaboration area. So we caught up with Mario to find out a little more about Adverdose, and where they are currently with their big plans...
So Mario what is Adverdose?
Adverdose is a platform built on a mobile app and website that runs video competitions for brands willing to engage with their customers in a safe and playful environment. Our team designs the competitions asking the users to perform specific actions leaving space for creativity and fun. Users join the contests with our iOS video-making app and vote their favourite videos getting rewards for all the actions they perform on the platform (uploading, voting and winning).
What makes Adverdose a safe and playful environment?
We are different from Vine, Youtube and other video platforms because users on Adverdose can see their efforts and actions rewarded. This means that voting, uploading a video and of course scaling the final ranking always brings to a reward for the user. To do so we are developing a gamified environment where users can win amazing branded prizes; for example, if a user votes ten videos belonging to the same competition, he gets a prize usually in the form of an online discount to spend on the brand’s e-store. And this is just the beginning… On the other hand Adverdose is a safe harbour for brands as they benefit from a full moderation service. This means that we check every video before it goes online so that no harmful content is uploaded. On a brand’s perspective, our moderation service is of remarkable importance as competitions run on social networks don’t allow brands to monitor entries, leaving space for what is known as hashtag hijacking.
In these terms, it sounds like users enjoy promoting brands…
That’s the ultimate goal. Adverdose was born to make video advertising fun and entertaining; to do so, we directly involve the users in the promotion of the brands, enhancing the power of user generated videos in a playful and rewarding environment. We want to become a new marketing channel for brands willing to interact with their fans and not to bother them with annoying in-stream videos.
Sounds interesting, who is behind Adverdose?
We are two Italian entrepreneurs and we moved to the UK as part of the Sirius programme last April. Paolo (on the left in the picture) is the strategic mind and CEO while I’m the creative guy and CMO. We can also count on Francesco, our CTO and we are now looking for a new mobile developer. We are based at Innovation Warehouse in London.
What is the status of the project?
After having completed the last semester of Accelerator Academy, we are now ready to launch the first competition with Fubles, the football social network that accounts for more than 380.000 users all around Europe. The contest will run until the 24th of August and users will be asked to make a video of themselves scoring and celebrating a goal wherever they like… But I don’t want to anticipate too much, download the app (it’s free) and I’m sure you are gonna see incredible things!
And with that, we wished Mario and Adverdose all the best for the next few weeks and went on our merry way!
