8 NI- and ROI-based startups with innovative solutions for the Future of Work, workplace and ways of working selected to pitch to the judging panel at Work: In Progress.

Streamed live from Belfast and with a number of tickets available to attend in person at The Mac Belfast, Work: In Progress is an all-day event organised by Startacus, which aims to explore the future of workspaces and ways of working, future jobs and talent planning, workplace diversity, inclusion and social purpose and the hiring demands of the growing tech sector.

WIP EVENT BANNER (2Since startups are always a core element of Startacus events, Work: In Progress is no different, featuring a startup pitch competition powered by sponsors Clockwise Belfast and Raise Ventures, both keen advocates for supporting the tech and startup ecosystem both locally and beyond.

8 tech startups from the island of Ireland with relevance to future work, workplace, and ways of working have been selected to pitch their innovative solutions to a leading panel of judges. The pitches will be showcased throughout the day, with the winner announced at the end of the event. 

So, without further ado, the Startups who will be pitching and the Judges who will be asking those tricky post-pitch questions are: 

Mustard 

Mustard is a B2B SaaS startup helping businesses to empower their employees with control over their financial future. They are addressing the pension problem in which 61% of European workers worry about not having enough money for their retirement. With over 65s set to double in population by 2050 and state pensions coming under further pressure, Mustard believes it's critical that workers take control of their financial future.

BrokerIQ 

BrokerIQ is a Customer Engagement Platform built specifically for the Insurance and Mortgage Broker Industry. It aims to empower brokers to move forward with digital technology increasing efficiency and client retention.

NolijWork 

NolijWork is a work coordination technology for knowledge workers within sectors such as financial services, insurance, legal and public sector. Uniquely, the company also provides a new methodology for mapping knowledge work, as part of the overall proposition.

They’ve also recently been described in an Analyst report as a “Work Mapping” tool in a newly emerging market, which can benefit knowledge workers as they move from corporate offices to home and hybrid working environments.

Sonamove 

startups picSonamove is a startup that provides innovative solutions to help desk-workers sit less and move more so they can live longer, happier and healthier lives.

CrewApp

CrewApp aims to secure the future of aviation by creating AI and data-driven personalised airline rostering - thereby maximising operational efficiency, team wellbeing and airline employability.

CyberPie 

CyberPie is a suite of tools that support the micro-business owner to take control of their cybersecurity. With cyberattacks on the increase, protection can be overwhelming and confusing, CyberPie provides bite-sized understandable content and tasks, that in 5 minutes per week, can be put in place by the business owner.

Regtick

Regtick is a visually intuitive software platform which simplifies the management of complex regulatory and compliance programmes. As the traditional workplace faces many challenges in these post-covid times, Regtick’s visually intuitive platform provides a digital bridge connecting remote teams and helping organisations reduce cost, improve control and collaboration and evidence compliance with regulations on an ongoing basis. Unlike existing platforms, their intuitive, visual approach makes it easy to see the progress in real time. Regtick is pushing the boundaries of visualisation software, creating their own technologies to give the viewer the oversight of the end goal of compliance, but also have the ability to zoom in on specific task detail.

Scanmatix 

Scanmatix is a complementary retail technology platform that empowers businesses with data intelligence to make better business decisions. Their 360 degree approach to all stock movements improves business vision for all stocks. By providing accurate location and inventory levels for both bricks and clicks, their users achieve higher sales, better customer satisfaction, better buying, and ultimately a better bottom line.

And the Judges the startups will be aiming to impress are: 

Adam Waller, Equity Fundraising Manager, Crowdcube

Adam has a passion for people who believe in making a difference - prior to working at Crowdcube, he had been at Funding Circle working directly with SME founders looking to grow their business. At Crowdcube he is a key member of the Fundraising Team, helping businesses in their efforts to raise anything from £150k - £7m. The Fundraising Team have supported the likes of Monzo, Citymapper, Marine Power Systems & Plum.

Jenny Ervine, Angel Investor & Co Founder of Raise Ventures

An experienced early stage angel investor with a passion for marketing and business strategy. Jenny also leads Raise Ventures and works with a number of early stage tech companies connecting them with investors & customers to help them grow and scale.

Toby Farren, Founder and CEO at Waypoint

Naomi Timperley, Co Founder of Tech North Advocates and the Co Founder of GSI - Growth, Strategy & Innovation Agency

Proud to be in the top 50 Computer Weekly Most Influential Women in UK IT 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021. Naomi is an experienced growth and innovation consultant with established relationships across the UK. 

Lara Halfon, Senior Scouting Manager at L Marks. 

L Marks builds relationships between corporates seeking to innovate and young companies looking to scale with disruptive tech and systemic guidance. 

Caleb Parker, Founder & Director, Bold (a NewFlex company)

Rachel McMillan, General Manager at Clockwise Offices, Belfast.

Susan Kabani, founder & CEO of the award winning membership & community platform Ugenie. 

Susan has also won numerous awards including Best Woman-Led Online SME Community Platform by the Influential Businesswoman Awards 2020 and Successful Women of the Year 2020 by Successful Women in Business.
