Eliport - innovation in ground-based robotic delivery

eliportLast mile logistics and deliveries made easy, thanks to these, coming soon, ground-based, robotic delivery machines from robotics startup Eliport.

eliport logoPollution is becoming more and more of a problem, and with the Earth just 2 degrees Celsius from a ‘hothouse’ tipping point, something needs to be done soon.

As we have said before, until governments get it together, it is up to entrepreneurs and startups to come up with innovative ways to combat this growing problem. And while they are at it, why not revolutionise an industry? Can you imagine a near future where deliveries come to you without hassle, without vans adding to already congested roads? That future is now...ish! Kind of.

Barcelona-based Eliport is a startup aiming to solve the issues faced by last-mile delivery services and change the face of cities overnight. The future is robotic and Eliport knows it. With a fleet of ground-based, autonomous delivery robots, Eliport will disrupt the delivery industry and introduce small delivery robots that travel at walking speed on pavements and pedestrian zones.

eliportEliport’s robots can load and unload without any input from humans, making them more cost efficient.

They can deliver at any time, straight into a secure delivery box by your front door, meaning that you don’t have to sit at home all day waiting to sign for that parcel that should have arrived 3 hours ago.

In April, Eliport closed their StarEngine crowdfunding campaign with 72 investors and $44,778.30 of their $10k-£107k goal (who donated 30c, we’re not sure).

Eliport says that tapping into even 0.1% of global deliveries would see it delivering 1.78 million parcels every day, and with the simplicity and convenience on the customer side, we have little doubt that we’ll be seeing these robots darting about our streets in the not-too-distant future.
